Working through technical issues, I changed my screen resolution to better match the HD requirements of some sites and I tried to buy a new mic at Target (We had gift certificates) but it totally sucked and didn’t work with my computer.
Anyways next episode and three new sites reviewed. Check them out and let me know what you think. Do you like the format? Is three sites too many? Not enough? I spend about 5 minutes on each site but it feels almost like I am rushing through a checklist of requirements for me to give it the thumbs up. I don’t want the show to become a checklist. I did not want to reveal the title for the new site till next episode but since it was taking waaay too long to re-encode the video without the title on it I thought what the heck why not let everyone know the name of the site. Enjoy.
And… We have a title! EDU Checkup is the name of the show. The focus is to check out education web sites and so an impromptu review of the site from a prospective students view. Domain is currently pointing to my personal site but that is only temporary. I am feverishly working on the new site dedicated to EDU Checkup.
In the last few posts I talked about my passion to critique higher education web sites via EduStyle.net. I decided to take it one step further and actually show you what I look for when reviewing these sites.
Again this is the first time I am doing this whole video thing, you actually get to see my mug. Kinda weird right? I was uncomfortable with it at first too.
Anyways here it goes, 15 minutes of fame, I might even do this again. Also I suggest you play the video in full screen to see the sites in greater detail.
Logged into my Flickr stats today and noticed a HUGE spike in traffic. Weird thing is that no one photo was driving that spike. There is one photo that dominated the stats spike. It seems like a ton of photos just got 1-2 views each. Anyone else have this happen to them yesterday?
When you have something soo visible that a committee has to be in control of its every pixel those pixels better be gold. In my 9-5 I see thousands of higher ed web sites and can cut right through the BS and know which ones are designed by real web workers and which ones are slapped together pieces of bureaucracy.
My daily goal which is part of a larger goal is to vote on every site on edustyle.net Right now I am #5 top user. Soon even closer to #1. I just got through all the A’s, tomorrow all the B’s. Watch out, here I come.
Overall this is part of a large idea I have, I cannot announce it now but I can soon. Stay tuned to see what I have up my sleeve.
